Start with the campaign job
State the business objective, target audience, market, timing, and role creator content should play. Awareness, consideration, conversion, content production, and community credibility require different creators, formats, calls to action, and metrics.
Choose one primary objective and a small set of diagnostic metrics. A brief that asks every post to drive reach, education, immediate sales, premium brand perception, and reusable production will create conflicting choices.
Define audience, creator fit, and product truth
Describe the audience problem, context, alternatives, and language. Define creator-fit criteria through audience relevance, subject credibility, content quality, brand safety, format ability, geography, and expected economics—not follower count alone.
List verified product facts, mandatory demonstrations, prohibited claims, and evidence available to the creator. Separate non-negotiable accuracy from flexible creative territory.
- Audience situation and buying trigger
- Creator selection criteria and exclusions
- Product truth and substantiated proof
- Required disclosure or claim review
Specify deliverables and workflow
Name the platform, format, duration, quantity, posting window, links or codes, tags, captions, raw files, revisions, and approval deadlines. Define who provides the product, who answers questions, and what happens when inventory, timing, or platform policy changes.
Discuss usage rights, duration, territory, paid amplification, exclusivity, whitelisting, cancellation, and payment with qualified reviewers. A content brief is not a substitute for a contract.
Build measurement before outreach
Select tracking appropriate to the objective: platform lift, reach quality, video retention, saves, branded search, landing sessions, codes, links, assisted conversion, or reusable asset value. Preserve creator- and content-level identifiers.
Document the learning question for each creator or format. The campaign should improve the next selection and creative decision even when a single post misses its target.
